Porcelain Doll |
|
Lisa wrote and recorded “Porcelain Doll” at the age of 16. |
|
| The song was featured as the centerpiece for Lisa’s first | |
| demo at The Art of Noise Studios in Hollywood. It tells | |
| the tale of a girl who never feels quite good enough in the | |
| constant comparison of herself to an external standard. In | |
| pursuit of perfection, she feels herself becoming doll-like, | |
| an inanimate object that is taken off the shelf for other | |
| people’s pleasure. In the midst of losing herself she | |
| screams out (to remind others as much as herself): “Honey | |
| I don’t break that easily.” |
